For hosting providers
Give every hosting customer a VMware self-service portal of their own
With ExoVM, your customers get their VMs, a browser console, power controls and tickets. You keep vCenter private and every VM action on record.
In short
ExoVM is a VMware customer control panel for hosting providers: each customer signs in to a clean panel and sees only the VMs you’ve assigned to them, with a browser console, power controls and support tickets. Your vCenter stays private behind a Docker connector that connects outbound, and your team manages every VM, quota and ticket from the same panel.

Sound familiar?
“Can you reboot my server?” shouldn’t be a ticket
Your customers run on VMware, but they can’t touch it. You won’t give them vCenter accounts, and you won’t put vCenter on the internet. So every reboot, every console request and every “is my VM up?” lands on your team.
- Console requests turn into screen shares or late-night tickets
- vCenter accounts for customers are hard to scope and harder to audit
- VPN access for customers is one more thing to support
- The full VMware cloud stack is a big step for a small or mid-sized provider, and Broadcom’s partner program changes have made it harder to reach.
What your customers get
A clean panel with only their VMs
- Their assigned VMs, with CPU, RAM, disk, guest OS, IP and power state
- A VM console in the browser, with no plugin or vSphere Client
- Power on, power off and guest reboot
- Support tickets inside the panel
- English or Turkish
- No vCenter account, no VPN
Your customers see a clean panel built for their VMs, not a stripped-down vSphere Client.
What your team gets
Control of every customer, from one place
- Every vCenter, ESXi host and site in one VM list
- Create customer users and assign specific VMs to each
- Per-user quotas
- Tickets from customers, in the same panel
- An audit log with user, action and time
- Snapshots, ISO mount and notes for your own work
Isolation
Customers never see each other
A customer user only sees the VMs you’ve assigned to them. vCenter credentials stay in your connector’s environment and are never stored in the ExoVM cloud.
Context
Why providers are looking again
Broadcom has changed how VMware is sold and who can resell it. In December 2023 it moved VMware to subscription-only licensing, and in July 2025 it announced that its cloud provider program would become invitation-only. If your customers mainly need to see and control their own VMs, a lighter panel on the vCenter you already run may be all you need.

ExoVM works with your existing VMware environment. Check your own VMware licensing terms for how you may offer services on it.
Hosting provider questions
How do I give customers access to VMware VMs without giving them vCenter access?
Put a customer panel in front of vCenter instead of creating vCenter accounts. With ExoVM, you run a small Docker connector next to vCenter, create a user for each customer and assign them specific VMs. Customers sign in to the ExoVM panel and see only those VMs, with a browser console, power on/off, guest reboot and support tickets. They never get a vCenter account, a VPN or vSphere Client.
How do I give customers VMware console access without vCenter accounts?
Assign the customer’s VMs to their ExoVM user. They open the console from their panel. It’s an HTML5 client brokered by your connector with short-lived, single-use tickets, so they never get a vCenter account and their browser never talks to vCenter.
Can one customer see another customer’s VMs?
No. In ExoVM, each customer user only sees the VMs assigned to them.
Can I limit how much a customer uses?
ExoVM admins can record per-user quotas (VMs, vCPUs, memory, storage) and compare them with each user’s assigned resources. Quotas aren’t enforced automatically yet.
What is a lightweight alternative to VMware Cloud Director for small hosting providers?
If your customers mainly need to see and control their own VMs, ExoVM is a lighter alternative to VMware Cloud Director: a web-based customer panel on top of the vCenter you already run, with no tenant platform to deploy. Customers get their assigned VMs, a browser console, power controls and tickets, and vCenter stays private behind an outbound-connecting Docker connector. ExoVM doesn’t build virtual data centres, tenant networks or catalogues. If you need those, Cloud Director or its successor, VCF Automation, is the better fit.
